Private or a small group of friends
A private class gives you a coach's full attention and the most control over time and place. Learning with one to four friends or family members in a small group shares the cost and can make lessons more relaxed.
Asking for a female coach
Swim2u lists female instructors as available for its ladies programme on swim2u.sg. Say so when you enquire if you prefer a female coach or a ladies-only group, and Swim2u will tell you what can be arranged in your area and at your preferred times. Availability varies by location, instructor and learner level.
Where to learn
A condo pool is often quieter and more private than a public complex, especially on weekday mornings. Public swimming complexes are an option if you do not have a pool at home. Quieter times, such as weekday daytime slots, can feel more comfortable at any pool.
If you are starting from zero
Beginner lessons start with water confidence: breathing out underwater, floating and standing up safely. Fear of water is common among adult learners and a good coach will not rush you. Read adult swim classes and beginner swim classes for what to expect.
What to bring
Swimwear you feel comfortable in, goggles and a swim cap are enough to start. Check the pool's rules on swimwear before your first lesson. Swim2u's terms ask students to have their own swimwear, goggles, swim cap and kickboard (Swim2u terms).
Common questions
Do you have female swimming coaches?
Yes. Swim2u lists female instructors as available for ladies lessons. Mention your preference when you enquire, and Swim2u will confirm what can be arranged in your area and at your preferred times.
Are ladies-only group classes available?
It depends on location and timing. Ask Swim2u, or form your own small group with friends so everyone in the class is someone you know.
I am an adult who cannot swim at all. Is that okay?
Yes. Many adult learners start from zero. See adult swim classes.
Can the lesson be at my condo pool?
Often yes, subject to your condo's rules and coach availability. See condo swim classes.
