Fixed slots vs arranged slots
Group classes run on a fixed weekly day and time at a set pool. You join a slot that has space at your level.
Private and small group classes are arranged to suit the learner, based on coach and pool availability. This is why a private class can often start sooner at a time that suits you. See private vs group.
Time bands
Swim2u's enquiry form groups preferred timings into three bands, which is a useful way to think about it:
- Morning, about 8am to 12pm. See morning swim classes.
- Afternoon, about 12pm to 5pm. Popular for kids after school and on weekends; strong sun at outdoor pools around midday.
- Evening, about 6pm to 10pm, subject to pool hours. See evening swim classes.
Weekday or weekend
Weekend classes are the most requested, so they have the least choice. Weekday classes usually offer more options. If you are flexible, listing several acceptable slots speeds things up.
Children vs adults
Children's schedules revolve around school, CCAs and nap times. Adults' schedules revolve around work and commuting. For both, the best slot is the one that will not be cancelled most weeks.
How often and how long
One lesson a week is the common minimum. Beginners, particularly adults, benefit from two. Lesson length varies by age: younger children usually have shorter lessons, while older learners can manage longer ones. Consistency matters more than length.
Live availability
SwimClasses.sg does not show a live slot calendar yet, and it will not show made-up ones. Availability varies by location, instructor and learner level. Send your preferences to Swim2u and you will get a real answer about what is open.
