Swim2u lesson policies, explained

Please read this first

This page summarises Swim2u's published policies in plain English so you know what to expect before you book. It is not the contract. The official Swim2u terms and conditions and Swim2u FAQ apply, and Swim2u may update them.

Rain, lightning and bad weather

• Lessons can go ahead in a drizzle.
• The coach and the pool operator can cancel or postpone a lesson because of bad weather. ActiveSG pools close based on real-time NEA lightning data (MCCY).
• If bad weather is forecast in your area, you can message your coach at least an hour before they travel to ask to postpone. The lesson is usually moved to the following week.
• Under Swim2u's terms, if a lesson has already started and is then stopped because of rain, no make-up lesson is given.

Rescheduling and cancelling

• Give at least one day's notice to reschedule.
• Lessons in a package are meant to be completed within about four weeks. Sessions not used in that period may be forfeited.
• Same-day cancellations of private lessons are not accepted.
• Replacement slots depend on the coach's schedule.

Make-up lessons

• Group lessons: no refunds, compensation or make-up lessons for absences or lateness.
• Private lessons: a make-up lesson needs a valid medical certificate and at least one day's notice, and is arranged around the coach's schedule.

Trial lessons

Swim2u offers trial lessons at a time that suits you. A trial costs the same as one standard lesson and lasts 30 or 45 minutes. The coach uses it to assess water confidence and swimming ability, so you get a realistic recommendation on class type and level.

What to bring

Swim2u's terms ask students to have their own swimwear, goggles, swim cap and kickboard. Bring a towel and a water bottle too. Public pools may charge their own entry fee, which is separate from lesson fees.

Condo and facility access

For lessons at a condo or facility pool, make sure the coach will be allowed in. Under Swim2u's terms, if security refuses the coach entry, the lesson is counted as conducted. Check your condo's rules on external coaches first. See condo swim classes.

How quickly learners progress

Every learner is different. Swim2u's guidance is that children generally start to show noticeable progress about 4 to 6 months after they become comfortable in the water. No fixed timeline can be promised.
